I came to Harmony Park Ridge four years agoafter a stroke and heart attack. At first, it wasfor rehabilitation, but over time this becamemy long-term home because the care here istruly A+. The nurses, CNAs, and staff are allwonderful, and they’ve helped me make somuch progress in my recovery.The support I’ve received has made a hugedifference. Nurses like Joseph, who alwayschecks in and makes sure everyone has whatthey need, and CNAs like Kansas, who bringsenergy and dedication to every shift, havebeen incredible. Victoria has also made mefeel cared for and comfortable. The kindnessof the team is what makes this place sospecial.I’ve been proud to serve as Resident CouncilPresident, helping to represent and supportmy fellow residents. I’ve also stayed active byleading activities like bingo and teachingothers how to carry them on. While I lookforward to transitioning back to the ‘realworld’ soon, what I’ll miss most is the staffand the sense of community they’ve created.Harmony Park Ridge has been a place ofhealing, support, and belonging for me.

When I came to Harmony Park Ridge, I wasn’t able to walk.

Because of neuropathy and Lyme disease affecting my legs, even standing felt overwhelming. I had lost confidence in my ability to move safely and do things for myself. After being discharged from the hospital, I knew I needed rehabilitation, and Harmony Park Ridge was close to both the hospital and my home.

Looking back, it was exactly where I needed to be.

When I first arrived, the therapy team didn’t rush me. They met me where I was and helped me progress one step at a time. First, they helped me sit up in bed and work through exercises. Then they helped me transfer to a wheelchair. From there, I began building the strength and confidence to stand and eventually walk with a walker.

Every milestone felt like a victory.

The occupational and physical therapy teams were incredible. More than anything, they helped me believe in myself again. I looked forward to seeing them every day because I knew they were helping me achieve things that I couldn’t do when I first arrived.

One staff member who made a lasting impression was Lala, a CNA who always brought positivity with her. She was cheerful, funny, and knew how to make me smile even on difficult days. Small moments like that made a big difference during my recovery.

What I appreciated most was knowing that help was always available when I needed it. Whether it was assistance with daily care, answering questions, or helping me feel comfortable, the staff consistently responded with kindness and compassion.

I also found inspiration in unexpected places. My roommate was 97 years old and remained remarkably independent. Watching her reminded me not to give up on myself and motivated me to keep working toward my goals.

By the time I left, I had gained so much more than physical strength. I had gained confidence.

Harmony Park Ridge exceeded my expectations because they never gave up on me. They helped me move forward step by step, and throughout my stay, I truly felt cared for.

If someone asked whether I would recommend Harmony Park Ridge, my answer would be simple: absolutely. I felt taken care of 100%, and that made all the difference in my recovery.
